An exhibition of Kronans silver coins opened on the 25th May 2007


On Friday the 25th of May 2007 a display of silver coins excavated in 2005 was officially opened. The display is comprised of around 6500 silver coins found in a wicker chest. Now the long process of conservation is finished the coins and their exciting are available for everyone to witness. Every year more artefacts are excavted, conserved and placed on display. At the same time a full scale model has been placed on disply that shows the disaster when Kronan sank.

During 2007 a 'drowning scene' was installed in the Kronan exhibition

Many sailors and soldiers died on Kronan as it sank. No less than 800 souls perished on that unfortunate day, only 42 are known to have survived.

Skeletal Material

During 2007's excavations lots of skeletal remains were excavated from the site. During investigation in association with their context, groups of remains could be preliminarily identified as individuals.
